Data from the U.S. Commodity Futures Trading Commission (CFTC) show that speculative positioning in the Swiss franc has become marginally less bearish. Net short CHF positions narrowed to -39.0K contracts, compared with -41.1K previously, according to the latest update on 06 July 2026.

The modest move suggests that traders are slightly paring back their negative stance on the Swiss currency, though overall positioning remains firmly in net short territory. While the shift is limited in scale, it may reflect cautious adjustments in expectations toward Switzerland’s safe‑haven franc amid evolving global market conditions.

With speculative positions still clearly net short, the data indicate that the broader market sentiment has not yet turned decisively in favor of the franc. However, the incremental reduction in bearish bets will be watched by investors for signs of any emerging trend toward a more neutral or constructive view on CHF.
